Sacral Chakra- swadhisthana

Pleasure Princle of Attraction and Desire
The sacral chakra is the centre of your pleasure principle; it’s about you in relation to others, about attraction and desire. The governing principle of the chakra is about the movement of the body and its connection to others. It’s about your emotions and your childhood. It’s your creative centre. Relates to the element of water. This chakra is the essence of life as seen in bodily fluids like blood and tears and lymph. There is no life on earth without water. The second chakra wants you to let go so your creativity can flow. As the foundations of your emotional body and the centre of the pleasure principle, it allows you to feel your emotions, to be open and friendly with other people, and to be in touch with your sexuality and sensuality.

Biggest Obstacle:
When your chakras are distorted, they can have either too much or too little energy. When there is too much energy in your second chakra, you may be too emotional and find yourself caught in anger or jealousy or rage. This chakra is also where one of the biggest problems shows up—addiction. Addictions ranges from alcohol, drugs, food, shopping, exercise, sex, social media, etc.

Healthy Chakra:
A healthy second chakra enables you to find the balance between giving and receiving. You’re able to appreciate the material things in your life, but you also collect wisely. You know how to balance your work life and social life, and you often feel happy and excited about new creative projects. You don’t try to control others, and you can grasp the consequences of your actions. You can identify any unhealthy addictive patterns you may have and find a way to change them.  The main themes of this chakra are trust and faith, which rely more on feelings than on thought. As a result, life situations involving negative emotions are more likely to cause problems with your second chakra. Some of these include feeling guilt about having sex or receiving pleasure, burying your anger, engaging in addictive behavior, experiencing your parent's divorce when you were a child, losing a patent at a  young age, or being sexually assaulted or abused at any age. Difficulties in this chakra can develop early in your life as you learn to walk and talk and start exploring the world through your senses. Problems in this chakra show up in the reproductive organs and also in the abdomen. Diseases and health issues often associated with the second chakra include problems with the male and female reproductive organs, sexual dysfunction, inflammatory bowel disease, appendices, chronic low back pain or sciatic nerve pain, and bladder or unitary problems.

Archetypes
Negative: The martyr sacrifices and suffers. The martyr does hold herself responsible but isn’t empowered because she doesn’t have a great enough sense of self and therefore feels helpless to change anything. Martyrs devote themselves to making sure that others are okay, even if it diminishes their own energy. They never express their own feelings or desires. Martyrs aren’t able to win the love they needed in their early life, and they sacrifice themselves in oder to be loved now.

Positive: The monarch enjoys abundance and feels good about themselves. They trust their body and understand what they hunger for, but they know they’ve when reached their limit and don’t overly indulge or become addicted to anything. This positive archetype represents not only earthly pleasure but also power in the world. Monarchs surround themselves with beauty, and enjoy the fullness of life; They are open to others and comfortable in their surroundings.

Spiritual Aspects
The sound for the second chakra is Vam. When you repeat this seed sound near a body of water, it strengthens the fluids in the body to circle better. The ruler of the second chakra is Vishnu, who is the lord of preservation. In the astrological realm, the second chakra is associated with the moon. As the moon was and wanes, it influences your emotions, your body and in women, their menstrual cycles. The second chakra is also associated with the planet Pluto, which represents your ability to transform. These two heavenly bodies influence the second chakra as the energy centre of pleasure, intimacy, feeling and sensation, change and movement.

Meditation:
To keep this chakra up and running, you can work with the colour orange. It is a warm and positive colour that symbolizes the second chakra energy. It integrates the red from the first chakra with the yellow wisdom from the third chakra. You can also wear or decorate with the colour orange. Since this chakra is connected to the element of water, remember to stay hydrated.
