Solar Plexus Chakra- manipura

Personal Power and Self Esteem
The third chakra is all able mental clarity, the focal point of you’re mental field. It’s your sense of self and your power centre. Your authenticity lives in this chakra. The element associated with this chakra is fire. Fire is transformative. Therefore, the governing principle of this chakra is transformation. The chakra is the internal combustion machine that can generate the power for you to cross the chasm and reach the heart chakra. The first of this chakra allows you to release dysfunctional thoughts and old behaviour patterns. If you are solidly grounded in your emotions, then the fire of your third chakra can power up you will and convert it into action. When fire burns, it produces light. The sense that can pick up light is sight, and the sense organs connected to this chakra are the eyes.

Biggest Obstacle
Problems can start to manifest in this solar plexus chart between 18 months and 4 years old. This is the time you develop your first definition of self and being to learn impulse control. Self-control translates into pride and self-worth, while any type of abuse at this stage in life can create a sense of shame. Shame can render you powerless and block your energy by making you feel unworthy and inferior. It can stop you from being your true, authentic self and can cause you to run from the truth. It can hinder your individuality.

Healthy Chakra
Your solar plexus chakra fires up your strength of will and fortifies your personal power. When you own the power that this chakra is generating, then you know your own worth and can fully embrace your own life story. You use your willpower to empower yourself in all aspects of life. Plus, you begin to gain a keen awareness, have heightened intelligence, and take control of all challenges that come your way. When the third chakra is running on full steam, you have taken control. You have assumed responsibility for whatever you need to handle. You take back any power you handed over to others. You seek the best ways to heal rather than bowing to what others say.  Issues concerning your personal power and authentic self-are most likely to cause problems with your third chakra. The third chakra controls most organs of all the other chakras. Problems typically show up in the liver, gallbladder, stomach, spleen, pancreas, or kidneys. Diseases and health concerns commonly associated with the third chakra include illness involving the pancreas, digestive difficulties, liver, gallstones, hemorrhoids. varicose veins, etc.

Archetypes
Negative: The servant, who is not aware of her own worth. The victim archetype of the first chakra victim and the martyr are more negative than that of the servant, but servants don’t take responsibility for their own self-esteem, instead relying on others for acknowledgment. Their lack of self-confidence often leaves servants hidden in the background, and without sting boundaries, they easily fall manipulation by others.

Positive: The hero, of your own story. Acknowledging your own power. When you recognize that power of your own, you are the hero of your own story and exemplify the positive third chakra archetype as the warrior. The warrior is the strongest of all the archetypes because warriors know how to use their willpower to empower themselves in life. Learning that you are indeed responsible for your own life is one of the greatest challenges. You have the power to take back your energy from others. The warrior in you cannot do much if your third chakra is out of power. However much warriors can achieve their goals and thrive, they don’t get to understand that we are all one in the spiritual realm.

Spiritual Aspects
The seed sound of the third chakra is Ram. When repeated, it bolsters the digestive fire. Fire moves in an upward direction, so repetition of this mantra directs the kundalini energy up the chakras. Rudra is the primary deity of the third chakra, the wrathful form of Shiva. His job is to destroy one cycle of creation so the next can be born. It is the fierce fire of your will that creates enough movement for your energy to rise through the chakra toward the goal of higher consciousness. It is the fire of your will that can make you face your challenges, take actions and move towards a new goal. In astrological terms, the sun is the ruling planet of this energy center. The planet Mars is the warrior planet and is thus also associated with the solar plexus chakra.

Chakra Blockage:
When dealing with an unbalanced third chakra, you may find that you have a hard time expressing your emotions. You may hide your true feelings because you’re afraid there may be repercussions.

  1. Do you have a lot of suppressed anger, fear or grief?
  2. Do you hold on to your resentments?
  3. Do you tend to blame others for your problems?
  4. Are you jealous of others? Do you think the grass is greener somewhere else?
  5. Do you feel like you never have enough time?
  6. Are you a control freak?
  7. Do you worry that others will overpower you?
  8. Do you have to win?
  9. Do you feel good about yourself only when you receive outside approval?
  10. Do you often stand with your arms crossed in front of you?

If you answered yes to three or more of these questions, your third chakra could use a tune-up!

Clearing Blockages:
Balancing your third chakra is about making sure your personal power is your top priority. No more putting aside who you really are and what you really want to do! The time for you to take center stage is now! Since the solar plexus is related to the element of fire, being outside in the sun is good. Spending time outside. To really open your third chakra and clear our blockages, you can start by becoming more aware of your actions and doing selfless service. Any act of courage or doing whats right strengthens this chakra. Having a balanced third chakra means that you accept personal responsibility, self-discipline, confidence, and energy. You also take risks but will always have a little time for fun!

Meditation:
Stand in front of a full-length mirror and take some time to really look at yourself. Don’t judge what you see . Don’t fret over certain body parts. Look at yourself in the mirror with compassion and love. As you’re looking in the mirror, name five of your best qualities: say them out loud. Remind yourself of the things you most like about yourself. Sincerely say the following affirmations: “ I am enough. I love myself.” Do this until you really feel the truth of these words.
